Google Maps Navigation complemented by step-by-step is currently being tested and should certainly arrive on iOS, according to the Wall Street Journal

Google Maps is supposed to be test and should arrive on iOS, with the navigation step-by-step.
Citing anonymous sources, the Wall Street Journal says that Google distributes a test version of the application legendary outside the company, which confirms the commitment to get Google Maps to iOS, reports Engadget.
Apple Maps debuted with iOS 6, bringing the navigation step-by-step for the iPhone and iPad for the first time. The first impressions of this mapping application were very poor, forcing Apple to officially apologize.
We even had readers write to say that they would not update to iOS 6 as an official Google Maps application is not available.
Google has not yet confirmed when it will launch Google Maps for iOS, and the source of the Wall Street Journal did not specify anything either on the timing of the launch of the search giant.
Until we have official information from either Apple or Google, we recommend users to simply continue to use Maps on Apple iOS6 for the moment, or else stay with iOS5 version.
Hopefully you will not have too long to wait.
